Tricks To Make Nose Bleeding Stop
Bleeding from the nose normally occurs due to a fracture, picking the nose, but it can also occur as a result of nasal allergies, colds or flu. The bleeding usually comes from the front nasal septum, but not always. Usually these bleedings have no etiologic cause and they do not have to worry you too much.
However, we should mention that nose bleeding may, in some cases, occur due to present symptoms of: osler disease, tumors, leukemia etc.
When nose bleeding could be worrying?
– If during the bleeding you feel shortness of breath
– If during the bleeding you feel arrhythmias (irregular heart beats)
– If it happens often and you lose lots of blood
– If you have dizziness and lose consciousness during bleeding
– If you feel extreme headache during nose bleed.
Side effects that often occur:
– Swallowing blood in big amounts wherein vomiting urges occur
– Frequent nose bleeds (where you lose lot of blood) wherein anemia occur.
Tricks
If you want to quickly stop nose bleed, try the following tricks that are really effective:
1. Apply pressure to the right spot
To prevent leakage of blood into the throat, sit flat and bend your head slightly forward. Blow your nose gently in order to remove the possible blood clots. Use the index finger and thumb to pinch the soft part of the nose, just below the cartilage and also hold the pressure for about 10 minutes.
2. Make compression
Make a strong gauze or cotton handkerchief roll. Place the compression in the mouth, between the gums and the upper lip just below the “root” of the nose, and hold it there for about 10 minutes. If you are bothered by the roll placed in the mouth, take a button or a coin and press it, with your finger, over the upper lip (between the lips and nose) and hold it for about 10 minutes.
3. Cold coating
Put an ice cube or cold coating on the side of the nostril that is bleeding. Hold the coating for some time, as much as you can endure and then pause and repeat the procedure. Cold coating tightens blood vessels and thus stops the bleeding. Nasal spray has a similar effect on the contraction of blood vessels.
Prevention:
1 – Do not overuse air conditioner because that way mucous membrane of the nose is getting dry.
2 – Intake lots of vitamin C because this vitamin strengthens blood vessels and protects mucous membrane.
3 – Drink lots of liquids. Water hydrates the body and thus the mucous membrane.
4 – Moist the mucous membrane with regular inhalation, in the morning and before you go to bed; sniff saline solution and rinse the nose. The mucous membrane must be saline and wet
